John Maisano’s designs of animals are influenced by his appreciation of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. He uses his carefully planned patinas to highlight the flowing details. “Out on a Limb” is a bronze lizard sculpture that is beautifully balanced, allowing the lizard to lean precariously over thin air. As one of his foundational sculptures as he solidified his viewpoint and style, “Out on a Limb” features flowing lines capturing the character of the lizard, with a high-polished bronze “core” at it’s center. He presents the life force of the lizard and transforms it into something more meaningful.
