John Maisano’s professional career spans more than 25 years. In addition to his sculpture, he has worked both as an exhibit designer and as an artist-in-residence at Yale University’s Peabody Museum of Natural History in Connecticut, as well as at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Sculptures designed by John range in size from treasures that can be held in the palm of one hand to larger-than-life-size monuments. His work has been commissioned for public display as well as for private collections nationwide.
Each sculpture is inscribed with intricate designs derived from natural forms and structures. John is also fascinated by the artistic designs found in Celtic, African, Inuit and Tribal art. These designs have inspired him to incorporate aspects of local cultural influence in each of his own sculptures. These carefully designed representations fuse the physical form of each animal to its spiritual energy, preserving both for all time.
