“Wee Wee Wee are Family”

Wee Wee Wee are Family came from many visits to Sedona and seeing the mommas and babies right outside the gallery! One night after the show we stood and watched the families meandering through the parking lot in the dark. One of my collectors kept sending me beautiful pictures of the Javelinas in her backyard and I decided it was time to create one ….but seeing just the one standing there I felt that she needed something more…babies! I thought about moms with many kids and how they swarm her and circle her and that’s where the poses came from.

John Maisano is fascinated by the artistic designs found in Celtic, African, Inuit and Tribal art which he incorporates into his sculptures. Each sculpture is inscribed with intricate designs derived from natural forms and structures. His sculptures range in size from treasures that can be held in the palm of one’s hand to larger-than-life monuments. His work focuses on graceful interpretations of animals shaped in a way that captures the life force of each animal and transforms it into something more.
