“The Marsh”

An idyllic marsh scene is brought to life by beautiful, polished, thin-cut layers of contrasting stones, including marble, quartzite, quartz, sandstone, bluestone and granite. Except for the sheet of clear wavy glass “water” which shimmers as it meanders through the finely cut blades of green marble and quartz grasses, all else contained within the deep brown poplar frame is constructed with natural stones.  Every bird’s eye, beak, and blade of grass is stone. No paint has been used anywhere in the image. From the sandblasted marble sky, to far distant granite trees to the many birds—egrets, geese, ducks, and herons– enliven the scene.  A hot-button red quartz Cardinal perched at the center completes this rarest of 3-dimensional compositions.
