“The Guardian II”

I love the first owl pose but wanted something with some power. Owls are such amazing creatures, they make absolutely no sound as they glide on the wind currents. We had a black out one night and the entire neighborhood was pitch black. I walked outside and stood in the yard for a bit as my eye adjusted. From the corner of my eye I caught a huge white shape gliding over my head about 10 feet up….there was no sound at all!  I stood frozen trying to process what just happened. It was a moment I will never forget and inspired me to create this second Guardian. This owl is again guarding over night as represented by the full moon design below the wing. The designs on the wings represent the currents as they glide quietly through the night sky. 

John Maisano is fascinated by the artistic designs found in Celtic, African, Inuit and Tribal art which he incorporates into his sculptures.
