“Little Hunter”

by: Jacques & Mary Regat

“Spring has returned over the tundra, “bog owls,” “swamp owls,” farm owls” hunters, denison of the twilight at dusk and dawn, neither hooting nor screeching we can hear their sharp raspy high barking. It’s the nesting season; soon from a brush covered hollow eggs will be hatching. Coursing over marsh and wet meadows the owls hunt mice, voles, small mammals and birds. Then in the waning days of summer these true migratory birds will begin their long journey south. A widely distributed species, short ear owls can be found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica.”
