“Suncatcher”

“This new life-size bronze panther seems to be truly enjoying the warmth of the sun. The lines are graceful yet sharp just like the cat; they can move so gracefully but at the same time can be absolutely deadly. His face is catching the warmth of the sun, as all cats do. I’ve used our own cat’s beautiful face for many of my sculptures. He used to greet us when we came home with his head up, eyes closed, and paw extended. Truly one of the sweetest kitties we’ve ever had. We rescued him after hurricane Ike, forever in our hearts now.”

John Maisano is fascinated by the artistic designs found in Celtic, African, Inuit and Tribal art which he incorporates into his sculptures. Each sculpture is inscribed with intricate designs derived from natural forms and structures. His sculptures range in size from treasures that can be held in the palm of one’s hand to larger-than-life monuments. His work focuses on graceful interpretations of animals shaped in a way that captures the life force of each animal and transforms it into something more.
