“Warrior Ridge”
by: Sandra Brestel$2,980.00
The cool morning air carries the sound of trickling water and bird song. A line of trees on the ridge add to this peaceful morning, as the wind drifts through their branches the trees join in the morning conversation and begin to speak in their soft rustling voices.
Long ago this place may not have been as peaceful as it is today. The ancient trees on the ridge, the fractured rocks of this canyon, and the reverently etched petroglyphs, all tell a story of this place. They tell a story of a powerful war magic, and they speak of the sounds of ancient battles, and shrill war cries that are forever locked within these rocks and etched images.
A petroglyph site may have many things etched within its spiritual past. During the long life cycle of these ancient rocks there are additions made. Over many years, other migrating clans leave their marks, images, and prayers upon this sacred place and in some ways it becomes a history of the area.
While the flute playing Kokopelli is a symbol of celebration, it is the images of conflict that dominate this site. The shield bearing warriors, arrow symbols, and horned mask, are all related to victory in battle and protection. The reverently etched images of the Thunderbird and the Bear create a very powerful war magic and prayer of protection for these ancient warriors. The Thunder bird is linked to the great sky spirits and it is a powerful protector with divine authority. While the Bear brings an immense power of courage and leadership to any battle. It is the Bears powerful and lumbering forward gait that is impossible to stop. Any warrior would welcome The Bear as their spirit animal, when going into battle.
There are several symbols that depict an end to this ancient conflict. The flute playing Kokopelli is a sign of celebration. The arrow images mean several things. They symbolize protection and defense and also an alliance of friendship. The image of the broken arrow depicts an end to the conflict and is a symbol of peace. Another important image here is that of the interconnected triple spiral. This symbol is the journey of a returning warrior, it is a symbol of the homecoming. The time for peace has arrived.
