“The Hunter”

by: Bill Worrell

“The Hunter”

Long before the Sun rises
The Hunter breaks his repose
Up the canyon, to the meadow he goes
Carefully, not making a sound
Bow and arrow in hand he waits
Patiently, patiently, patiently

Without the Hunter
The Clan would perish
The elders would wither away
The children would die
Silence would fill the rock shelters

They hunted for survival
Not for sport
They made restitution for what they took
They hunted so their lives might go on
