This art piece reflects the Native American reverence for the stars as teachers, guides, and keepers of ancestral wisdom. It speaks to the journey from youth to warrior, where starlight becomes both a compass and a voice of the elders, carrying lessons of balance, strength, and humility across generations.
STARLIGHT
In the hush of night, by the river wide,
A boy sat alone with the stars as his guide.
Whispers of wind through the cedar trees,
Carried the voices of old memories.Starlight, show me the way,
Teach me the songs the elders say.
Guide my heart with your silver glow,
Tell me the things I need to know.He asked the moon, “What makes a man?”
The river replied with the touch of Grandfather’s hand.
“Listen,” he said, “to the fire’s low song,
The stars have watched us all along.”“You are the eagle, learning to rise,
You are the wolf, with ancient eyes.
Your spirit is flame, your path is wide,
Walk with the stars, and not with pride.”Years turned like leaves in a sacred dance,
The boy grew strong with a warrior’s stance.
But still he came to the silent hill,
To ask the stars what they ask still.Starlight, I walk your trail,
With stories deep and faces pale.
Elders speak in your silver flow,
Now I know what I need to know.Walk in peace… under starlight true…
