“Patio Brunch”

“One of the things we love about Arizona is the wildlife. I love going on long walks and stumbling upon animals in their natural habitat, but oftentimes we experience them a little closer to home. I’ve planted so many bulbs, scattered so much birdseed, and babied so many succulents—to the joy of the local peccary. I picture this homeowner, in their robe, mimosa in hand, watching the demise of their carefully cultivated prickly pear through the glass of the back door. With equal parts ire and amusement (they were here first, after all), they watch the wildlife accept the neighborly invitation to brunch.”

Kristin McDonald’s artwork introduces the viewer to something truly whimsical and exciting. She does not shy away from topics bringing the viewer into a dream-like world and into the unknown. Working in a fine art foundry since 2005, she gained plenty of experience and skill applying patina to bronze sculptures which she truly thinks brings them to life. Now, she brings this talent into her own work.
