“Overseer”

“To oversee is to watch over or supervise. This is a condition that most of us can identify with through experience. Many of us find ourselves in supervisory situations in many aspects of our lives that we understand and support with our dedication, effort, and purpose. We universally honor and respect those who do a good job in this endeavor. We tend to think that supervisors are promoted into that capacity by forces outside themselves. Sometimes this is true. But, often we just accept responsibility in the natural course of events. For instance, parents oversee the growth and development of children. That alone covers most of us. Ultimately, we are all responsible for our own choices and the direction our lives take. That pretty much covers the rest of us. Overseer speaks to and honors those who supervise and direct great causes. Come to think of it, I guess that is all of us.”

The art of Southwest native Richard Pankratz is design driven. The element of Pankratz’ design can be easily recognized, even though all of the individual elements of the pieces are radically different. Pankratz refuses to be bound by either subject or media, he feels that artists must somehow find a way to express a segment of the world in which they exist, and that as they take this journey, themes should be explored continually in multi-faceted arrays of variation.
