“Holding Hands”

As life goes on I’ve come to see,
How fairness, love, and care,
Don’t always show their tender ways,
When one feels fierce despair.
Those moments when you’re feeling peace,
And time moves on with grace.
And then you’re met with painful news,
That shatters hopes in place.

Remember when you’re holding hands,
How warmth ignites your heart.
That touch and care will melt your wounds,
You’ve carried from the start.
Those childhood wounds, those memories,
Those sad and tearful days.
They seem to smolder in one’s mind,
At times when anguish flairs.
But know it’s true that time heals wounds,
And makes them small and light.
You won’t forget, but light will shine,
and pain becomes so slight.

So take my hand, let’s walk in light,
Those butterflies their dance,
Let joy and kindness come back in,
And give your heart a chance.
Grasp others choice of callous ways,
Is not your cross to bear,
A lesson learned, let demons go,
Don’t dwell on your despair.
The sun will rise, take in a breath,
Elated dance once more.
Don’t throw away a precious life,
You have been striving for.
