“Bohemian Beetle”

The Bohemian Beetle was originally inspired by Egyptian scarabs. While working on the piece Kristin’s imagination took artistic license with a paisley inspired pattern on the shell. Insects have always been interesting to Kristin. They are almost like jewelry in nature, so many colors and designs, so complex yet small enough to go unnoticed. This beetle can’t go unnoticed though, if he walks through your living room he’ll steal the show.

Kristin McDonald’s artwork introduces the viewer to something truly whimsical and exciting. She does not shy away from topics bringing the viewer into a dream-like world and into the unknown. Working in a fine art foundry since 2005, she gained plenty of experience and skill applying patina to bronze sculptures which she truly thinks brings them to life. Now, she brings this talent into her own work.
