Holly Felice has a BFA in Sculpture from Appalachian State University and over 20 years of sculpting experience. She currently sculpts in steel and enjoys working at her studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Motivated by a genuine love of flora and fauna, creating beautiful, sculptural flowers, butterflies, and garden scenes is Holly’s specialty and passion.
The steel sculptures are created with specialized techniques to shape and color the steel. “I learned this distinctive technique from renowned metal sculptor Gary Caldwell. The colors you see in the stainless steel sculptures are created by the natural chemistry of stainless steel reacting to extreme heat; there are no chemical solvents involved. After the metal is ground, sanded, and polished, I create the beautiful colors you see by carefully directing a flame set to many extreme temperatures.”
Holly’s steel sculptures are exhibited in galleries and public art venues throughout the country. Exploring the different boundaries of the medium, her art extends from indoor to outdoor, private to public art, and much in between. “Nature is my muse. I love making pieces inspired by it, working with its inherent beauty, and then adding my own creative twists along the way. I love participating in the beautiful nuances of how art of any scale can shape a location or space.”
Creating art has always been a vital part of Holly Felice’s life. She feels fortunate to be able to make a career from it, sculpting unique and one-of-a-kind stainless steel sculptures inspired by nature.
Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art is delighted to represent Holly’s stunning steel sculptures.
