“The Lady & The Lizard”

In a garden veiled in morning dew,
Where the petals wore a ruby hue,
A lizard basked in the amber sun,
Dreaming of days that had just begun.
He blinked at the breeze, all soft and slow,

When down from the sky like a flame aglow,

A ladybug danced in a crimson coat,
As if on the wind, she wrote a note.

Oh, the lady and the lizard, what a sight to see,

One with silent wonder, one with wings set free.

She lands on the leaf where he waits in trance,

In a still green world, they share their dance.

No words between them, just sky and song,

But the lizard waits there all day long.
She twirled on his leaf with feet so light,
A sparkle that turned the noon to night.
Her eyes were gems from a faerie’s ring,
And her wings hummed tunes the robins sing.

He didn’t dare speak or break the spell,
But oh, in his heart, the stories swell.
Of brave little knights and queens that fly

Of how he would follow, if he could try.

Oh, the lady and the lizard, how the tale has grown,

She leaves with the breeze, but he waits alone.

He watches the clouds, the bees, the dance—

Holding on to a sliver of chance.
For love, he’s silent, but hopes she sees,
His heart like the leaf, trembling in the breeze.

Seasons may turn, and flowers may fade,
But every dawn, his vigil is laid.
A patch of green in a boundless field,
Where time and longing are gently healed.

One day she stayed past the sunset gold,
Perched by his side, so brave and bold.
He whispered, “Your light has made me new,”

She smiled, “The leaf led me back to you.”

Now the lady and the lizard, in a tale so true,

Dance on the leaf beneath skies so blue.
Not bound by words or rules of fate,
Just moments they share, delicate and great.

Each day a gift, each glance a thread,
In the garden where their story’s spread.
So if you see a lizard still as stone,
Don’t think he waits there all alone.
He’s watching the sky, for a flash of red,
And the hum of wings where his heart is led.
