“Fitting In”

Fitting In is one of Kristin’s favorite sculptures. When she first dreamed it up, she wanted to communicate the feeling we all have when we are uncomfortable in our own skin. The feeling of sticking out and not knowing your place, but trying to fool the world into thinking you have in all together. Unfortunately, when we try to fit into the world rather than being our authentic selves it tends to do the opposite and make us stand out even more, or draws more attention to our alienness, and what’s wrong with being an alien anyway?

Kristin McDonald’s artwork introduces the viewer to something truly whimsical and exciting. She does not shy away from topics bringing the viewer into a dream-like world and into the unknown. Working in a fine art foundry since 2005, she gained plenty of experience and skill applying patina to bronze sculptures which she truly thinks brings them to life. Now, she brings this talent into her own work.
