“Desert Guardian”
by: Kristin McDonald$3,480.00
Kristin grew up in Arizona and loved all it had to offer, dessert and pine mountains the same. Lizards were always a thrill to find on a hiking trail, none more elusive than the Gila monster. Uniquely colored, also known as the beaded lizard, it is very rare to come across in the wild. That’s a shame because they are beautiful.
Sometimes Kristin might want to pet something that might get her in trouble, like a Gila monster for example, so she sculpted one. She can enjoy the thrill of their beautiful skin without drawing its teeth and wrath. Give dear Sassy a pat on the head yourself and enjoy the exciting texture and beautiful beads of color inspired by an icon of our desert.
Kristin McDonald’s artwork introduces the viewer to something truly whimsical and exciting. She does not shy away from topics bringing the viewer into a dream-like world and into the unknown. Working in a fine art foundry since 2005, she gained plenty of experience and skill applying patina to bronze sculptures which she truly thinks brings them to life. Now, she brings this talent into her own work.
