"Controlling light is everything in photography. It is the vehicle for creating depth and contrast while enhancing or diminishing detail. By directing the eye of the viewer, it develops and holds the inherent emotion of the image. Acknowledging this, I am naturally attracted to the diffused and impressionistic as well as the luminous and translucent. I enlist water, ice, gelatin, lenses, prisms, mirrors, and chemistry to achieve my looks, pushing each element to coax a little more out of my images."
"Though I love the power of digital, I work hard to create the essence of my images in the studio, not on the computer. The final results are reproduced on painterly canvas and watercolor paper or on the brilliant super gloss Light jets...toward the end I try to make use of any tools that I can find, accept my gifts, and know when to stop."
