Artist's Biography

Quadruple Sassi Description:
View 1 is available and shows the "Large Quadruple Sassi".   All others may be Sold Out.

Dino Rosin's Quadruple Sassi sculpture is now available in two sizes!
The "Large Quadruple Sassi" features four large balancing "rocks" on a low profile black glass base.  The "Small Quadruple Sassi" features the traditional design of four balancing "rocks" on a tall, narrow black glass base.

Please call for availability and exact sizing, as each sculpture is a one-of-a-kind creation and subtle differences in shape and size do occur.

The red rock towers of Sedona, Arizona inspired each one of these Dino Rosin original glass sculptures.  After his first encounter with the natural wonders that Sedona possesses, Dino Rosin felt pulled to create Calcedonia glass pieces that would imitate the precariously balanced boulders found spread around the picturesque town of Sedona.

These abstract representations from one of Murano, Italy’s premier glass artists hold forms within each “rock”.  The cylindrical Calcedonia formations inside give life to encapsulated air that seems to swim suspended in the timeless colors.  Numerous bands of luminous reds, purples and blues twirl in captivating patterns along the arcs and bows of each segment of the series.  As with all of Dino Rosin’s Calcedonia glass works, no two sculptures will ever contain the same colors.  The distinguishing colors of Calcedonia, comparable to the stripes in a zoned agate, are created through the introduction of silver nitrate to crystal clear glass.  Patterns found in each Dino Rosin sculpture cannot be controlled since the colors depend solely upon the chemical reaction of each batch.  As a result, every sculpture - including "Quadruple Sassi" - has the added element of chance upon that of unparalleled mastery.  Just as the red rocks of Sedona enchant visitors year after year, so will these fabulous Dino Rosin pieces.

Dino Rosin is a true "Maestro" from the celebrated glass art island of Murano, Italy. Rosin continues his family's tradition of glass blowing that dates back generations. "Large Quadruple Sassi" and "Small Quadruple Sassi" are stunning examples of this world famous artist's skill and lineage, with a combination of clear and "Calcedonia" glass, a lost art rediscovered by Loredano Rosin, Dino's predecessor and older brother. Rosin's studio produces the clearest and most colorful Calcedonia glass in the world. Impossible to duplicate, each piece is completely unique in its color.
