David Vincent Mendonca was born in California. As a young boy, Dave's mother told him stories of her ancestors journey from Portugal to Maui in search of work in the pineapple and sugar fields.
From the moment Dave set foot in Maui, he knew that this was his home, and part of his ancestry. "I will always be fascinated with the overwhelming beauty of the islands vegetation and marine life. It is the beauty that gives me the inner peace to create my sculputures." Art has always been Dave's first choice as a career; however, it was placed on hold while he ran a successful Import/Export business that has kept him traveling the world for the last twenty years.
As Dave's daughters are growing up and beginning to embark on their own life's journey, Dave now finds he has time to work on his art. "I plan to spend the rest of my life creating a wide range of artwork. I want to try to capture the beauty of nature within each piece I create. I believe that the beauty of nature is ours to keep. It is ours to share. Most importantly, it is ours to protect so that we will ensure the beauty and tranquility for future generations."
