| | The Miracle Writing/Poem: | My hands were tiring But the smell of smoke was sweet And gave me strength. More swiftly I twirled The dry stalk of yucca in the notch.
A thin, white stream began rising Growing into a small cloud at my feet. A small, glowing ember Fell into the nest of shredded of grass and bark I had so carefully prepared.
I folded it around the glowing coal, Lifted it into the sky' And gently blew my breath upon it.
Once more the magic happened, Light burst open in my hands: Yellow, white Light now too hot to hold. As I fed it, it grew Consuming my every dry offering. The more I offered the larger it became. Now it lights our shelter. Tonight we shall sleep warmly. When the Sun rises I will cooksotol roots. We will feast. Our children will grow strong. The people will live on and on.
I thank Great Spirit. Great Spirit smiles upon us. Great Spirit gave us the miracle.
