As are the grains of sand
Churned by the seas,
So seem to be the inconsistencies of human
kind
The Hopi have a word: koyannisqatsi
Meaning "crazy life," or "life out of balance."
People kill in the name of God.
That is what they say they do.
People hate, erroneously believing they
perpetuate and serve some doctrine of "love."
Anti-abortionists kill adults to save
embryos, fetuses.
And in the processes of their insanities,
and in their acts of terrorism,
They kill, maim, and disfigure innocent
children,
Pregnant women (thereby committing abortions
themselves) and destroy the property of those
Who have never even considered having
abortions.
Some hate sin - what they consider to be sin -
So much more than they choose to love those
who sin.
Koyannisqatsi!
Great Spirit,
Give us a vision of balance,
Sanity,
Stability,
Mercy,
Temperance,
Tolerance,
Love,
And an understanding.
Give us a vision of peace,
With You,
With each being,
And of each being with all beings.
Great Spirit,
So let it be.

May 8,1998 4:22 p.m.Stiff stubborn winds, blowing carbon from the generating plants of the Chihuahuan Desert. Just finished the wax pattern for this piece and shipped it to Deep in the Heart Art Foundry.
It occurred to me that terrorist acts-murder-rape-killing-become serial acts because each time such an act is repeated, it validates and justifies the insanity of the act to the criminal. Repetition makes the act one of sanity, to the mind of that insane individual. |
