“The Vision”
Bill Worrell
Upon the stone floor the Shaman ground his potion
Seed of Mountain Laurel, Fruit of Cactus
He mixed it with Water in a cup of Gourd
Lifting it in the Four Directions
He gave thanks to Great Spirit, then drank
He sat before the River, entering a trance
A vision appeared
Ravens danced in the blue Sky
Touching wings, circling, calling his name
They spoke to him and he understood their words
“There will come a time of great peace
All Creatures will live in harmony
All tribes will unite for common good
All people will see there is a great plenty,
Not a sparse scarcity
People will laugh and sing songs
The children will play
Great Spirit will smile
This time will come”
The Shaman arose
He viewed the beams of the morning sun
He said,
“It is a good day to have this vision”
Worrell – 01/08/14 – 10:14 a. m.
Birds singing, water rippling, golden grass bending in the wind. Clouds floating effortlessly in a winter sky. It is a good day to see these things. Now to paint.
